ABOUT US

Porter Horse Transportation's Dan Porter got his start in equine transport more than 40 years ago. In the early days, Dan gained quite a bit of experience behind the wheel by hauling then-girlfriend Carol Dean-Porter's Grand Prix show jumpers to shows along the west coast.

In the late 80s and early 90s, Dan became a driver for well-known horse transport companies such as Bob Hubbard Horse Transportation and Cargill Horse Transportation. There, he logged many miles transporting horses safely from coast to coast.

In 1993, Dan Porter and wife Carol Dean-Porter began operations as Porter Horse Transportation with a single truck and a large six horse trailer. "When I branched out on my own, I took the best of what I learned while working for those companies and combined it with my background as a horseman to provide a top notch hauling experience," Dan explained. Within less than 6 months, the couple purchased its first Kentucky 15 horse trailer and the business has continued to grow ever since.

Today, Porter Horse Transportation  maintains a small fleet of three top of the line, Air-Ride equipped trucks and trailers driven by experienced horsemen who truly care about your horse's comfort and safety. All equipment meets or exceeds the USDOT's transport for hire requirements and is routinely maintained to ensure top performance.
